NSE Visit
April 1, 2018Orientation Day 2018
August 18, 2018Students of BBA visited the Mother Dairy plant at Patparganj, Delhi. Mother Dairy makes an excellent case study in terms of the initiation, progress, branding, employee satisfaction and trust. It has excelled in all these fields and the idea of taking the students to Mother Dairy was primarily to expose them to the practical aspects of all that they are learning.
Mother Dairy was set up in 1974 under the Operation Flood, the world’s biggest dairy development program launched to make India a milk sufficient nation. Mother Dairy is an ISO 9001:2008 (QMS), ISO 22000:2005 (FSMS) and ISO 14001:2004 (EMS) certified organization. The organization prioritizes quality and hygiene.
“Mother Dairy is committed to bringing happiness to every individual with its range offering pure, hygienic and adulteration-free high-quality products which have been the strength, differentiator, and heritage of the brand over years.”
Over the years, Mother Dairy has developed into a trusted brand which forms part of every Indian household in some form. Mother Dairy believes in constant innovation and invests extensively in installing hi-tech automated machines to ensure high product quality/reliability and safety. Mother Dairy manufactures markets and sells milk and milk products besides other agro products.
The visit itself was an example of how organized the setup of the organization is. The visit started with videos about the procedure of collection of milk from villages, transportation to the factory, testing, processing packaging, supply chain management till the products reach the stores.
Students learned that Mother Dairy is also concerned about the environment and uses solar power, rainwater harvesting, and effluent treatment plants to protect the environment.
Students were shown live demonstrations of various tests that could be conducted to check the purity of milk. The session was thrown open to students for questions. This was followed by the plant visit. Seeing the magnitude of the machines and the quantity of milk being processed at one time left the students awe-struck. Appreciating the international standards of state of the art equipment and stringent quality management was an outcome of the plant visit.
Students were treated to goodies like ice-cream and flavored milk, making the trip fun and memorable.
The next day the students were asked to share their experience. Every student was asked to convey his understanding of the various aspects of the organization. Some of the observations included:
- The trust the brand has built over the years is well deserved as the process followed at every step is meticulous and praiseworthy.
- The livelihood provided by the organization reaches even those households who have only small milk contributions.
- The green environment of the factory and policies reflect the commitment of Mother Dairy to conserve the environment.
- The quality and maintenance of the machines and processing areas are of international standards and made the students realize that plants in our country can match any standards worldwide.
On the whole, the visit to Mother dairy broadened the perspective of students and they had a very informative and enjoyable visit.
